Garden of Forgetfulness revisited

Just before we moved home at the beginning of October 2015, Mum was gravely ill and we took turns to stay with her day and night. It was at that time that I started "Garden of Forgetfulness" bij Willyne Hammerstein, to have a project that I could easily do at her bedside. Mam enjoyed seeing the rosettes come to life.

Since then this project was more or less on halt, Mum is no longer with us, and I picked it up again last week. It is just too much fun to do. In fact this was the preparation for a much bigger and more complicated design by Willyne Hammerstein: La Passacaglia. To see whether I enjoy doing EPP and also whether my sore hands would be able to manage.

I use an acrylic template to make fussy cutting easier

Looking for a fabric that will go with the blue stripe/floral

En er is weer een rozet af.

And another rosette is done.

I don't like to use glue, but I thread-baste the fabric around the templates. That way I can keep using them and they easily come out. The handy clasps are great for EPP.

Progress until this morning, with the planned border fabric, which I'm also using for the diamonds.

Autumn has really arrived at our home, even though the temperatures are still quite high for the time of year. The birches in front of our home have taken on their golden colour.

The ginkgo tree has taken on the colour it has just before it drops all its leaves in one go.

The hydrangea is beautiful too, in its autumn colours

I'm ending this blog post with a picture I took on my way home last Friday.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. It will be followed soon by another one about progress on my Love Entwined, which I'm also still working on.
