More Painting

I apologize to those who are not interested in watercolour painting :o)

Here is another watercolour which I painted yesterday afternoon. For inspiration, I used a photograph which I took last year whilst staying in the Isle of Mull in Scotland. This is the view from our self-catering house.

The stitcheries for block #8 of Tail Feathers quilt are nearly done and then I still need to piece the whole block. That only leaves block #9 and the four corner robins as far as stitchery and applique go, but there are still 24 log cabin blocks and the borders to do.

Yesterday, I received some gorgeous fabrics for the William Morris & Friends Baltimore Album quilt. Initially I had signed up for a BOM for this project, but once part 1 arrived, the fabrics which the ONS had chosen did absolutely nothing for me. After a lot of browsing on the internet, I went for a line of fabrics called Samsara, by Bernatex. I think they will work very well for this design. Only half of the fabrics have arrived so far (the post is a bit slow after the volcanic ash cloud problem). Once they have all arrived, I will share pictures of them.

The Isle of Eriskay...

... is where I was supposed to be last week. This little island in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland is a breathtaking place.

As I told you last time, the volcanic ash cloud prevented me from going. The next best thing was some more painting tuition on Monday, during which I painted an Eriskay landscape, complete with Eriskay ponies, which roam the island in small and bigger herds.

All in all it was a lovely day, and since I have been working hard on Tail Feathers quilt. Lots of bits finished, which don't really make a good picture.

Once I have more to show, I will upload some pictures of the new mini-blocks and what I have done so far.

Thank you for your lovely comments.

Luna's 1st & Thank You

Today is Luna's 1st birthday. Look at our little furry girl, snuggling up to her furry friend. Piccie taking five minutes ago, whilst they were having a snooze together.

A BIG thank you to Margit, who sent me this gorgeous book on cross stitch and patchwork, and lovely card for my birthday.
Your timing is great, Margit, since I was supposed to be in Scotland now, but a cloud of volcanic ash prevented me from travelling.
Now that my holiday has been cancelled, I've pulled out all my projects and I'm trying to get over the feeling of 'being at a loose end', when my plans have so suddenly changed.

Leanne's House Block #3 & Something Completely Different

Block #3 of Leanne's House is finally done! I got distracted by Frosty Knotgarden and other passtimes, but got back to it and managed to get it completed. It will be two weeks before block #4 arrives.

And then, for the 'Completely Different' part:

I took some more watercolour painting tuition on Thursday. It had been a year (yes, I know!) since I had last painted and I needed some encouragement and refreshment. An entirely white piece of watercolour paper can get a bit overwhelming.

It very quickly came back to me and my very kind painting tutor and I spent a lovely day painting and having a gorgeous lunch in a bistro's garden.

The result was these two landscapes.

I'm not too happy about the rocks in the foreground, but practise will make perfect, I hope ;o)
Thanks for all your nice comments and birthday wishes.

Thank You Michele!

Look what arrived in the post today!

Gorgeous presents from Michele, who always manages to find the perfect goodies for me!
Thank you, Michele! And thank you for allowing me to open it two days before my birthday ;o)

Thanks for your lovely comments on Frosty Knotgarden. Part two is coming at the end of April, so those who wish to see more, will have to be patient :o)

Frosty Knotgarden: Part 1

Part 1 of Frosty Knotgarden (by Châtelaine) is done!

I chose the silk conversion, using NPI's instead of DMC's.

Here's a detail of the pretty threads and beads/crystals.

Back to Leanne's House now, or Peacock, or Tail Feathers, or Le Jardin............... you'd think I have too many projects ongoing (and I haven't even named them all yet ;o))
Thanks for your lovely comments on my last Snowbound block.

Snowbound Block #4 Done!

What a fun way to spend Easter Monday: playing with fabrics, threads and embellisments to complete block #4 of Bunny Hill Design's freebie BOM: Snowbound.

The pattern was published this morning.

Thanks for all your nice comments.
