Is There Such a Thing as a Perfect Border?

I think there is. I found it for my Antique Wedding Sampler, with help from Karen of Aztec Rose Crea in Zwijndrecht.

Here it is with part of block 10 of my Antique Wedding Sampler.

And here with the unfinished block 2

That organgy fabric is very hard to combine, and yet it complements the roses in the border beautifully

Here is the border with some of the fabrics I will be using in my Antique Wedding Sampler

I also took some more pictures of the Willow Emerald Damselfly:

In this last picture, where she is sitting on a lupin seed pod, she looks as if she is smiling at me, almost posing for me.

Back soon with more Antique Wedding Sampler news, probably some Dear Jane and probably some beautiful creatures.

Dear Jane & Garden Photographs

This appears to be the title I have given to many posts recently, but Dear Jane just won't let me go just yet, to play with other projects.

I completed three more blocks:
Ik heb drie blokjes afgemaakt.

Dear Jane G8 "Hunter's Comet" using fabric from my stash, and one fabric from a FQ-pack of "Crème de la Crème" background fabrics which I ordered last week.

Dear Jane E4 "Buffalo Tree Hopper" using a fabric given to me by my friend Helen from Australia and a background fabric which my friend Jane from Wales gave me.

The title made me wonder, so I had a little Google and came up with this funny creature.
De titel riep vragen bij me op, dus ik ben even gaan Googelen, en kwam dit grappige beestje tegen.

A Buffalo Tree Hopper!

And I also completed Dear Jane A3 today, "Hunter's Moon", using fabrics from my stash.
I adapted the pattern and made it the way Jane made her original block.

My new plants are working well to draw insects to our garden, and I had a few sessions with my camera and a bag full of patience, and came up with this:

After this photograph of a Red Admiral on the Echinacea, I realised that I needed to move the plant to a place with a better background.
Notice the photo-bombing spider :)

The photo-bomber itself.
De foto-bommer zelf.

I moved the Echinacea, which was then visited by a very active bumblebee. An hour later and after about 50 blurred pictures, and a nice sit in the sunshine, I caught the above photograph.

The bumblebee also tried the violets which I grew myself, but soon realised that it was a bit too heavy for that little delicate flower.

And later that evening, during the Golden Hour of evening light, the anemone looked very beautiful.

I bought some new bits of fabric for my Dear Jane blocks via Facebook of all places.
These lovely reproduction fabrics came in the post yesterday. They are left over from someone else's Dear Jane quilt.

Now I'm trying to come up with suitable background fabrics, and the absolute perfect block to use these beauties for.

Thanks for your lovely comments. I will be back soon with more of the same subjects. I hope you are not getting bored with them.

WOW: Dear Jane & Garden Creatures

One more block completed for my Dear Jane:

I12 - "Fred's Square Fair" using fabric from my stash.
De stofjes kwamen uit mijn voorraad.

And I just had to try one of those triangles, since I had found the perfect fabric in my stash:

This is a triangle for the border of the top row, 9th from the left.

That leaves 139 blocks and 54 triangles still to make :o)

Postie just brought this lovely selection of fabrics from my friend Helen in Australia.

Thank you Helen! I'm already leafing the book to find the perfect blocks for these pretty fabrics.

A few days ago I had a quick visit to the garden centre to buy some buddleja's, butterfly bushes.
And about 24 hours later, I had my first visitor on one of the dwarf buddleja's. It is red admiral.

I also bought some Echinacea in these amazing colours called "Summer Cocktail"

They were covered in butterflies at the garden centre, so I thought they would work well to draw butterflies to our garden.

Now I'm off to link my blog to Esther Aliu's for WOW (WIPs on Wednesdays). If you need stitchy inspiration, that is the place to visit.

Dear Jane & Damselfly

Today I finished another Dear Jane block and started the next one.

First I completed C6 "Ashley's Aura"
Eerst maakte ik C6 "Ashley's Aura" af

And I'm now working on G8 "Justin's Comet"
The reason I didn't finish it this evening, is that I'm not sure I'm happy with my choice of background fabric.

So I'm leaving it for now.
Ik laat hem maar even 'sudderen'.

For days I have been 'chasing' Willow Emerald Damselflies around our garden. And today I managed to get some good photographs of them. Chase over, I think :o)

Back soon with more Dear Jane and whatever else takes my fancy.

Thank you for your lovely comments.
Bedankt voor jullie leuke berichtjes.
