Fernhill is Done!

On this special date 12-12-12, I have a completed Fernhill top to show you. I finished the last part yesterday afternoon. This is the 2012 Button Club BOM by Lynette Anderson.

Op deze speciale datum 12-12-12 kan ik jullie mijn Fernhill top laten zien die af is. Het laatste deel heb ik gistermiddag afgemaakt. Dit is het Button Club blok van de maand van Lynette Anderson voor 2012.

On Saturday I basted all the layers for my In Full Bloom quilt. Now I need to find out how to quilt!

Zaterdag heb ik alle lagen van In Full Bloom geregen. Nu moet ik uitzoeken hoe ik moet doorquilten!


And in the mean time I am working on block 5 of Floral Bouquet Quilt by Yoko Saito. This block is coming along nicely. It has lots of fiddly applique pieces and three pieced borders.

En ondertussen werk ik aan blok 5 van Floral Bouquet Quilt van Yoko Saito. Het blok schiet goed op. Het heeft veel priegelige onderdelen die geappliqueerd worden en drie patchworkranden.

More Fernhill Progress

Part 8 of Fernhill is finished and now I need to wait a few weeks for the last part to arrive so I can complete it.

Deel 8 van Fernhill is af en nu moet ik een paar weken wachten tot het laatste deel komt zodat ik het kan afmaken.

These Button Club projects by Lynette Anderson are so much fun to stitch. I cannot wait to see what Lynette comes up with for next year.

Deze Button Club-projecten van Lynette Anderson zijn zo leuk om te maken. Ik ben benieuwd wat Lynette voor volgend jaar van plan is.

Floral Bouquet Quilt Progres

Block 2 of Floral Bouquet Quilt by Yoko Saito is finished. I'm very happy with this block.
The next block I will be working on is block 4. I have the pieces all prepared and started doing the applique, but the background fabric is not really working for me. So I need to find something that will work before I continue. 

Blok 2 van Floral Bouquet Quilt van Yoko Saito is klaar. Ik ben erg blij met dit blok. 
Het volgende blok waar ik aan zal werken is blok. Ik heb de onderdelen al voorbereid en was al begonnen met appliqueren, maar de achtergrondstof past niet zo mooi bij de kleuren die ik had gekozen. Dus ga ik op zoek naar iets anders voor ik weer verder ga.

Het was niet gelukt zonder mijn hulpje.

Yesterday evening I started working on part 8 of Fernhill by Lynette Anderson. This cute owl is part of this block.

Gisteravond ben ik begonnen met deel 8 van Fernhill van Lynette Anderson. Dit schattige uiltje maakt er onderdeel van uit.

I have also started knitting a sweater. It is fun to knit, because the top half including the sleeves are knitted from left to right, and then the bottom halves are added. I chose the same wool as the one used in the pattern. It is 50 % Yak (yes, really!) and 50% merino. The colour is called Jeans.

Ik ben ook een trui aan het breien. Hij is erg leuk om te maken, omdat de bovenste helft inclusief de mouwen van links naar rechts gebreid worden, en daarna worden de onderkanten toegevoegd. Ik heb dezelfde wol gekozen als degene die in het patroon werd gebruikt. De wol bestaat voor 50% uit jak-  wol (ja, echt!) en 50 % merino-wol. De kleur is 'Jeans'.

Fernhill Progress

Just before postie is about to bring me the next part of Fernhill by Lynette Anderson, I'm all caught up.

Net voor de postbode me het volgende deel van Fernhill van Lynette Anderson brengt, ben ik helemaal bij. 

The most recent additions are this bunny....

De nieuwste toevoegingen zijn dit konijntje...

 .... and this fox.
Both still need their eyes added, but I haven't found anything suitable. Maybe I can use black beads, or stitch a big French knot.

Ze moeten allebei nog een oogje krijgen, maar ik heb nog niets passends gevonden. Misschien kan ik zwarte kraaltjes gebruiken of maak ik een grote Franse knoop.

 As I have mentioned before, I love stitching the little bees. I had never made yoyo's before, but with a bit of practise it worked fine

Zoals ik al eerder heb gemeld, vind ik die bijtjes heel leuk om te borduren. Ik had nog nooit yoyo's gemaakt, maar met een beetje oefening lukte het goed.

The latest button - a sweet ladybird - belonging to block 7, the block with the fox.

There are only two more blocks to go, to fill in the empty spaces, and then this quilttop will be completed.

De nieuwste button - een schattig lieveheersbeestje - dat thuishoort op blok 7, het blok met de vos.
Er komen nog maar twee blokken, om de lege plekken op te vullen en dan is deze quilttop af.

Red Home & Fernhill

I made quite a bit of progress on Red Home by Natalie Bird. The birdhouse now has its surrounding blocks which form the inner border of this quilt. 

Ik heb veel werk verricht aan Red Home van Natalie bird. Het vogelhuisje is nu voorzien van de blokjes die de binnenrand van deze quilt vormen.

The Flower Basket is also done.
There is another flower basket with a heart-shaped flower.


Het mandje met bloem is ook klaar. Er is nog een mandje met een bloem in de vorm van een hartje.

And this is House on the Hill, also completed.

En dit is het huis op de heuvel, ook helemaal af.

















Jug of Flowers is still in progress. I still need to do three of those tiny leaves.

De kan met bloemen is nog niet klaar. Ik moet nog drie van die piepkleine blaadjes appliqueren.

The two hearts are ready to go. They still need their red and cream squares. 

De twee harten zijn ook klaar voor hun rand met rode en crème blokjes.

In the mean time I also completed the stitchery for Fernhill part five. When I took the picture, I realised I had forgotten to stitch the Dolphin Blue French knots. Each of these parts is dotted with them.

In de tussentijd heb ik ook de stitchery voor deel 5 van Fernhill klaar. Toen ik de foto nam, zag ik dat ik de Dolphin Blue Franse knoopjes vergeten was. Ze zitten op ieder blokje tot nu toe.

I love stitching the tiny bees.

Het stitchen van de bijtjes vind ik erg leuk! 

Part 6 of Fernhill arrived last week and it is a very surprising part, with lots of work that needs doing.
I won't post a picture of it, so as not to spoil the surprise for other Fernhill stitchers.

Deel 6 van Fernhill is vorige week aangekomen en ik vond het een heel verrassend deel. Er is veel werk te doen. 
Ik laat er geen foto van zien, om de verrassing voor andere Fernhill-fans niet te bederven.

Fernhill

After postie brought part 1 of Fernhill by Lynette Anderson last week, I ordered the required threads immediately. They arrived today!
In the mean time I found the required background fabric at my favourite quiltshop in Lisse

Nadat de postbode vorige week deel 1 van Fernhill van Lynette Anderson bracht, heb ik gelijk de benodigde garens besteld. En vandaag zijn ze aangekomen!
In de tussentijd heb ik de achtergrondstof gevonden bij mijn lievelings quiltwinkel in Lisse.

They are overdyed threads by Weeks Dye Works and the colours are really beautiful.

Het zijn verloopgarens van Weeks Dye Works en de kleuren zijn prachtig.

This is how I just caught Kruimel watching the fish in our aquarium.

For those of you wondering why there are spoons in our aquarium: that's the way I make the piece of cucumber on the bottom, so the algae eaters can eat it.

Zo betrapte ik Kruimel net terwijl hij naar de vissen in ons aquarium keek.

Voor diegenen die zich af afvragen waarom er lepeltjes in ons aquarium liggen: op die manier zorg ik ervoor dat het plakje komkommer op de bodem blijft liggen zodat de algeneters erbij kunnen.

He knows how to make himself comfortable.

Hij weet hoe hij het zich gemakkelijk moet maken.

At the moment I am working on part 1 of Quilt Me Club 2012 by L'Atelier Perdu (see button in my sidebar). A fun combination of applique, a bit of stitching, and patchwork.

Op dit moment werk ik aan deel 1 van Quilt Me Club 2012 van L'Atelier Perdu (zie button in de marge). Een leuke combinatie van appliqueren, een beetje stitchery en patchwork.
