Snowbound Stash

Look what postie brought this evening: my fabrics intented for the Irish Chain blocks of Snowbound.

Not sure whether they will work, but they are gorgeous and the parcel was beautifully presented.

The first three fabrics are from the same series as my background fabric for Snowbound. The pink polka-dot I added myself, for a bit of variation.

The second block for Le Jardin is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to get it done this evening.
This is what the quilt will look like when it is all done.

Sleeping Beauty

No, not the fairytale, not even a fairy tail, but our kitten Luna. She was born mid-April 2009 and came to live with us at the beginning of August. Her full name is Luna Llena, meaning 'full moon' in Spanish. She is a British Shorthair, Black Silver Shaded.

Sometimes she looks like an artic fox when she's sleeping with her little tail wrapped all around her.

On the stitching front, I'm working on Tail Feathers (Cinderberry Stitches) part 6. This the mini-block with the applique robin:

and Le Jardin (Bunny Hill Designs) part 2. Not much to show for that one yet.

Snowbound: Block One Completed

Snowbound block #1 was completed this afternoon. This project is fun to work on. It is a freebee by Bunny Hill Designs. I'm not using the recommended fabrics, but chose my own.
Thanks to my Mum for the pink fabric for the cupcake and all her advice!
Since the pieces in this project are very small (the total block is 9x9") I chose to use the fusing applique method using Steam-a-Seam and blanket stitches to permanently attach the pieces to the background. The snowman is made of wool felt.
And look what postie brought, just after I attached the last thread of Snowbound:

The kit for part 2 of Le Jardin, also by Bunny Hill Designs. Guess what I will be working on later today ;o)

And postie also brought some fabrics which Ineke sent me to add to my rather meagre quilting stash. Thank you, Ineke!

Our Beautiful Boy

This is Kruimel (Dutch for 'crumb'), our one-year-old British Shorthair. He was in a very relaxed mood this morning; was lying on the floor on his back and I decided to join him, armed with my little digi-camera.

Le Jardin block #1 & stash

Le Jardin block #1 was completed last night. This is December's block of the new Bunny Hill Designs BOM.

This is such a great project to work on. The fabrics are just gorgeous!

Block #2 (January) is on the way to me (come on, postie! ;o)).

Postie did bring some lovely stashy things today. My background fabric for

The new freebie BOM from ...... Bunny Hill Designs (am I addicted, or what?!) and a few bits and pieces which I bought in a sale.

You will see the background fabric very soon, once the wool felt has arrived for the snowmen.

Peacock Garden Mandala & Snow

Peacock Garden Mandala (Mystery XIII) part 1 is done, including a ton of beads and bicones. I used the recommended threads and beads. Aren't they gorgeous?

Design by Chatelaine

We are probably not the worst-hit area in Europe, but we had a fresh covering of snow last night and it looks like a Winter Wonderland outside.

Rest assured that the real birds are being amply fed! ;o)

Great weather to stay indoors and stitch!

New Year, New Blog

2010 is nearly 6 days old. Time to start my own blog.

Let me first introduce you to the projects I'm working on at the moment. You will find out very soon that there is an enormous number of WIP's going on, but for now, these are my focus projects:

The Chatelaine mystery for 2010: Peacock Garden Mandala. Part 1 is nearly done. I obviously cannot show you an image of the whole project ;o)

Secondly, Le Jardin by Bunny Hill Designs, a gorgeous applique quilt (thanks Michele, for pointing me in the right direction! :o)). I'm working on part 1 at the moment, which is still very much in progress:

And here you see part 1 with all the bits and pieces that are not quite there yet:
