R.I.P. Minty

Our furry girl went to cat heaven this afternoon. There was nothing more we could do for her.

04.05.2005 - 23.07.2012

More Fernhill Progress

Finally caught up with Fernhill and not long now until part 5 comes. I have another logcabin block done and another which needs doing.

The light was beautiful at the beginning of the evening yesterday. I took this picture of my favourite garden ornament with a white petunia growing above it. I should have dead-headed the petunia before  I took the picture, but by then the light would have gone!

I'm working on In Full Bloom by Lynette Anderson again. My last stitchery block is almost completed and I'm piecing the last patchwork block. That will complete the last row which will then need attaching to what I have so far. Next will be the narrow brown inner border and then piecing 64 rectangles for the outer border, of which I have about 6 done :o)

After having shown a remarkable improvement last week, Minty's health has deteriorated again. She has stopped eating again and we're back to the vets tomorrow.

Fernhill Progress

As promised, I'm back with my progress on Fernhill by Lynette Anderson.
I'm caught up with the stitcheries and now I'm choosing my fabrics for the logcabin blocks and the sashing around the centre block.

The blackberries are filled with tiny French knots.

Minty is doing a bit better. She had her ultrasound on Thursday and it turned out she has huge lymph nodes in her tummy. Luckily these turned out not to be malignant - against all odds - and she is slowly recovering. She also has pyelitis (inflection of the renal pelvis). No wonder she is feeling so ill!

Thank you for all your kind wishes for my Dad and our furry little girl.

An Epic Journey

Some of you who probably already guessed that I sneaked away to my favourite island in Scotland, when they saw the water colour paintings I showed last month.

This is a beautiful sunset across from my friends' house.

Another sunset, which happened on my first evening on Skye. They don't get much better!

Walking the dog is a daily ritual on Skye. Not a bad view when walking a dog with friends.

Suddenly I found myself on my way to the Lake District. My Dad had been taken ill whilst on holiday and needed to be driven home. This is the view of Rannoch Moor from the train from Fort William to Glasgow.

At the end of a long day of travelling (involving a coach, two trains and two taxis) from Skye to the Lake District, this was the view from my Mum and Dad's holiday destination: a sheep farm near Kendal in the Lake District.

I didn't get to enjoy it for very long, because the next morning we were on our way to Newcastle, to catch the evening ferry to IJmuiden in Holland. Mum and Dad's car was rather full of luggage once their luggage and mine was loaded up.

The journey went smoothly and around 5 pm we were on our way to Holland.

A last view of Newcastle from the ferry. Those little boats look like toy boats from the huge ferry.

Our poor little Minty is still ill. Blood tests which were taken last week revealed that she has pancreatitis. She is going for an ultrasound this afternoon, to make sure there is nothing nasty happening in her tummy.
She is feeling very poorly at the moment and I am injecting her with pain killers and anti-nausea medication.

Back soon with pictures of Fernhill parts 1 to 4. Only a few more blackberries to fill with French knots before I can show you the four parts completed.

This blog entry will be linked to Esther's WOW (WIPs on Wednesdays). Grab a cuppa and have a look at what stitchers from all over the world are doing.
