Floral Bouquet Quilt Progress

A few days back I completed block 4 of Floral Bouquet Quilt by Yoko Saito.

Een paar dagen geleden heb ik blok 4 van de Floral Bouquet Quilt van Yoko Saito afgemaakt.

Not sure how I'm supposed to work on block 5.....

Hoe ik aan blok 5 moet werken, weet ik nog niet....

One of our ancistrus (algae eater fish) laid very bright yellow eggs. We are not sure what happened next, whether the eggs got eaten or that there are tiny baby fish hiding among the plants in our aquarium. Time will tell!

Een van onze algeneters heeft felgele eitjes gelegd. We weten niet zeker wat er daarna is gebeurd, of de eitjes zijn opgegeten of dat er zich hele kleine visjes tussen de planten verstoppen in het aquarium. De tijd zal het leren!

Floral Bouquet Quilt Progres

Block 2 of Floral Bouquet Quilt by Yoko Saito is finished. I'm very happy with this block.
The next block I will be working on is block 4. I have the pieces all prepared and started doing the applique, but the background fabric is not really working for me. So I need to find something that will work before I continue. 

Blok 2 van Floral Bouquet Quilt van Yoko Saito is klaar. Ik ben erg blij met dit blok. 
Het volgende blok waar ik aan zal werken is blok. Ik heb de onderdelen al voorbereid en was al begonnen met appliqueren, maar de achtergrondstof past niet zo mooi bij de kleuren die ik had gekozen. Dus ga ik op zoek naar iets anders voor ik weer verder ga. 

I couldn't have done it with my little helper. 

Het was niet gelukt zonder mijn hulpje.

Yesterday evening I started working on part 8 of Fernhill by Lynette Anderson. This cute owl is part of this block.

Gisteravond ben ik begonnen met deel 8 van Fernhill van Lynette Anderson. Dit schattige uiltje maakt er onderdeel van uit.

I have also started knitting a sweater. It is fun to knit, because the top half including the sleeves are knitted from left to right, and then the bottom halves are added. I chose the same wool as the one used in the pattern. It is 50 % Yak (yes, really!) and 50% merino. The colour is called Jeans.

Ik ben ook een trui aan het breien. Hij is erg leuk om te maken, omdat de bovenste helft inclusief de mouwen van links naar rechts gebreid worden, en daarna worden de onderkanten toegevoegd. Ik heb dezelfde wol gekozen als degene die in het patroon werd gebruikt. De wol bestaat voor 50% uit jak-  wol (ja, echt!) en 50 % merino-wol. De kleur is 'Jeans'.

Floral Bouquet Quilt

When I first saw the Japanese Floral Bouquet Quilt by Yoko Saito on Isadarena's blog, I instantly fell in love with it. I ordered the book, which took forever to arrive. And from then on I started collecting Japanese fabrics, more seriously when I visited the Deventer Quiltshow with Ineke.

Toen ik de Japanse Floral Bouquet Quilt van Yoko Saito voor het eerst zag op Isadarena's blog was ik gelijk verliefd. Ik bestelde het boek dat er erg lang over deed om aan te komen. Vanaf dat moment ben ik begonnen met het verzamelen van Japanse stofjes, vooral tijdens het bezoek aan de Deventer Quilttentoonstelling samen met Ineke. 

When Isabelle heard that I had started this beautiful project, she promised to send me a few scraps of pinks and yellows for the flowers.
These 'few scraps' resulted in the postman ringing our doorbell to present me with a very fat envelope. Thank you ever so much Isabelle!

Toen Isabelle hoorde dat ik was begonnen met dit prachtige project, beloofde ze een paar stukjes roze en gele stof op te sturen voor de bloemen. 
Deze 'paar stukjes' zorgden ervoor dat de postbode aan moest bellen om me een hele dikke envelop te overhandigen. Dank je wel, Isa!

This is the first block I completed last month.

Dit is het eerste blok dat ik vorige maand heb gemaakt.

And this is my second block, which is not the second one on the pattern. According to me it is the eighth, according to the Japanese pattern the 11th.

In the mean time I have found the perfect background fabric to stitch the second block with the white embroidered flowers.




En dit het tweede blok, dat niet echt het tweede blok is, maar volgens mij het achtste en volgens het Japanse patroon het 11e.

In de tussentijd heb ik de perfecte stof gevonden om het tweede blok te maken, met de geborduurde witte schermbloemen.

A lot of ordering and buying of Japanese fabrics has been going on since I stared. I ordered these three sets of Fat Quarters from the USA. After all, I need to have plenty of choice :o)

Sinds ik ben begonnen heb ik veel bestellingen geplaatst voor Japanse stofjes en de plaatselijke quiltwinkels bezocht. Deze drie sets met Fat Quarters komen uit Amerika. Ik moet tenslotte iets te kiezen hebben :o)
