WOW: Lots of Things

Since I am not going out much because I'm not feeling well, I'm playing with my fabrics, threads and paints.
Aangezien ik niet veel op stap ga omdat ik me niet goed voel, speel ik met mijn stofjes, draadjes en verf. 

First of all, I completed Dear Jane D4"Crystal Star" using a burgundy fabric from my stash, and a cream background which Jane sent me.
Allereerst heb ik Dear Jane D4 "Crystal Star" gemaakt, met een bordeauxrood stofje uit mijn voorraad, en een crème achtergrondje dat Jane me stuurde. 

Last time I told you I had received new watercolour paints. And by that I meant a new brand which has come on the market in the Netherlands. They are "Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors"and I just love them!
De vorige keer vertelde ik jullie dat ik nieuwe aquarelverf had ontvangen. En daar bedoelde ik een nieuw merk mee dat nu ook op de Nederlandse markt is. Het zijn "Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors" en ik vind ze geweldig! 

I tested them a few days back, painting in our garden on a lovely day. I only had four colours then, but I just had to order some more of the colours I usually use for my landscape paintings.
Ik heb ze een paar dagen geleden getest, lekker schilderend in onze achtertuin op een mooie dag. Ik had toen nog maar vier kleuren, maar ik moest gewoon een aantal kleuren bijbestellen die ik altijd voor mijn landschapjes gebruik.

I just love the way the pigment behaves on the watercolour painting.
Het pigment gedraagt zich prachtig op het aquarelpapier en ik ben er weg van. 

And later that day I painted this little landscape, borrowing one extra colour (Cereleum blue) from my Winsor & Newton paints.
Later die dag schilderde ik dit kleine landschapje en leende één extra kleur (Cereleum blauw) van mijn Winsor & Newton verf. 

The violets in de the garden are still flowering beautifully. Isn't it lovely how many different flowers this one has. 
De bosviooltjes bloeien nog steeds prachtig in de tuin. Het is zo leuk hoe veel verschillene bloemetjes deze plant heeft.  

I especially love this little one.
Ik vind vooral dit kleintje zo mooi.

When I was looking for some fabrics for my Dear Jane blocks in my stash, I stumbled across my Leanne's House project. It has been ages since I worked on it. Since 20th February 2011 to be precise.
I was still into fusible/blanket stitch applique, which I don't like anymore now. So I'm ripping out the fusible bits and replacing them with needleturn applique, using the same fabrics in most places.
Toen ik op zoek was naar stofjes voor mijn Dear Jane-blokjes in mijn voorraad, kwam ik mijn Leanne's House-project tegen. Het is heel lang geleden dat ik daar aan heb gewerkt. 20 februari 2011 om precies te zijn. Ik werkte toen nog met een andere manier van appliqueren met Steam-a-Seam en dekensteek, die ik nu niet meer mooi en leuk vind. Ik haal al die onderdelen uit en vervang ze door geappliqueerde onderdeeltjes, en gebruik daarvoor meestal dezelfde stofjes. 

This afternoon I'm replacing the hearts in parts 1 to 3. 
Vanmiddag ben ik bezig de harten te vervangen op deel 1 tot en met 3. 

This vase and its contents have to go too. I have prepared most of the pieces to go straight back in with needleturn applique. Now I need to hunt down some of the 'missing' fabrics which got 'borrowed' for something else :o)
Deze vaas plus inhoud moeten ook weg. Ik heb de meeste onderdelen al voorbereid zodat ze gelijk geappliqueerd kunnen worden. Nu moet ik eerst nog even wat 'ontbrekende' stofjes die zijn 'geleend' voor iets anders opzoeken.

Call me crazy, but I couldn't work on this anymore if I didn't get those previous parts 'sorted' first. Part 6 is nearly ready. All the stitcheries were already done and most of the pieces of fabric pinned to the pattern.
Jullie zullen me misschien voor gek verklaren, maar ik kan niet meer aan dit project verder als ik niet eerst de eerdere delen vervang. Deel 6 is bijna klaar. Ik had alle stitcheries al gemaakt en alle stukjes stof zitten op het patroon gespeld. 

At this rate, am I ever going to get any of my projects finished? ;o)
Krijg ik op deze manier ooit iets af? ;o)

WOW: Love Entined progress & Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt & Lovely Presents

Love Entwined part 2 was published on Sunday. Kruimel and I set to work immediately to get the pattern taped. The centre block is 31.5 inches without seam allowance.
Kruimel looks like he is thinking "Are you sure we are doing this one, Mummy? It is HUGE!"

Het tweede deel van Love Entwined is zondag uigekomen. Kruimel en ik zijn gelijk aan het werk gegaan om het patroon aan elkaar te plakken. Het middenblok is 31.5 inch zonder zoom. 
Kruimel kijkt alsof hij denkt "Gaan we deze echt maken, Mammie? Hij is GROOT!"

It took me two days to get my background fabric prepared, basting all the lines for placement and the border zigzags and outlines of the borders.

Ik heb er twee dagen over gedaan om mijn achtergrondstof voor te bereiden, alle lijnen te rijgen voor plaatsing van het kompas en andere onderdelen, en de zigzagrand en de buitenlijnen van het blok.

My compass is basted in place and still needs to be appliqued. 

Mijn kompas zit vastgeregen en moet nog worden geappliqueerd.

I am planning to piece the tiny diamonds for the zizagborder. They are in two different colours.
The whole border will be appliqued in place. Hence the basting for correct placement.

Ik ben van plan de piepkleine wiebertjes voor de zigzagrand met de hand aan elkaar te zetten, en dan de hele rand te appliqueren. Vandaar dat ik alles heb geregen, zodat alles straks precies goed zit.

Whilst waiting for part 2 of Love Entwined to be published, I worked on my Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt by Leanne Beasley.
This is how I choose my fabrics. I pin all the pieces to a copy of the pattern sheet, to 'audition' my fabrics. 

Terwijl ik wachtte op deel 2 van Love Entwined, heb ik gewerkt aan mijn Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt van Leanne Beasley.
Dit is hoe ik mijn stoffen kies. Ik speld alle onderdelen op een kopie van het patroonblad, om mijn stoffen 'auditie' te laten doen. 

The scallops are appliqued. They still need the embroidered flowers added. 

De schulpen zijn geappliqueerd. Er moeten nog geborduurde bloemetjes op dat blok komen.

This is where I left off when Part 2 of Love Entwined suddenly appeared earlier than planned. Yay!
Mrs Beasley will have to wait until part 2 of LE is done. I am determined to keep up with this 18 month long project. Time will tell whether I will succeed.

Dit is waar ik was gebleven toen deel 2 van Love Entwined plotseling vroeger dan gepland zijn opwachting maakte. Joepie! 
Mrs Beasley zal even moeten wachten tot deel 2 van Love Entwined af is. Ik ben vastbesloten bij te blijven met dit 18 maanden durende project. Of ik het vol zal houden, zal de tijd leren.

The half Dresden Plate for Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt has been pieced and appliqued. It still needs the 'tree' adding.

De halve Dresden Plate voor Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt zit aan elkaar en is geappliqueerd. De 'boom' moet er nog worden opgezet. 

My stitching friends spoiled me over the past week. First a parcel from my friend Bunny from Canada arrived, containing the brand new patterns for Lovebird Lane, including the fabric pack with all the pictures, and the buttons. She had also included a very sweet purse which she had made herself. Thank you ever so much, Bunny! 

Mijn handwerkvriendinnen hebben me erg verwend de afgelopen week. Eerst kwam er een pakje van Bunny uit Canada, met daarin de gloednieuwe patronen voor Lovebird Lane, inclusief het stoffenpakketje met alle plaatjes, en de buttons. En er zat ook nog een schattig beursje bij dat ze zelf had gemaakt. Heel erg bedankt, Bunny!

Yesterday, another parcel arrived. This time from Australia, from my friend Glenda. She sent me this beautiful kimono, to either wear, or unpick it and use the fabric for one of my quilt projects. Thank you so much, Glenda! 

En gisteren kwam er nog een pakje. Deze keer uit Australië, van mijn vriendin Glenda. Ze stuurde me deze prachtige kimono, om te dragen of uit elkaar te halen om de stof te gebruiken voor mijn quiltprojecten. Dank je wel, Glenda!

Quilt Me Club 2013 & Mrs Beasley

The applique block for part 4 of Quilt Me Club 2013 by Nataliejo is finished.
Below are a few details of this block.

Het applique-blok voor deel 4 van Quilt Me Club 2013 van Nataliejo is af. Hieronder zie je een paar details van deze quilt. 

When issue 10 of Vignette magazine was published last week, I instantly fell in love with "Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt".

Toen nummer 10 van het tijdschrift Vignette van de week uitkwam, was ik gelijk verliefd op "Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt".

Thankfully most of the fabrics which I chose came from my stash, to which I added a few during a visit to my favourite quilt shop Samsara Quilting. As usual, Jacqueline managed to find a few FQ's that complemented my fabrics beautifully. I also bought the backing fabric, a pink Tilda with a small motif, which you see in the background on this photo. I might use a few scraps of it for the front too.

Gelukkig kwamen de meeste stofjes die ik heb gekozen uit mijn voorraad, waaraan ik een paar FQ's heb toegevoegd tijdens een bezoekje aan Samsara Quilting in Lisse. Zoals gewoonlijk vond Jacqueline een paar FQ's die prachtig staan bij de stofjes die ik al had gekozen. Ik heb ook gelijk stof voor de achterkant gekocht, een roze Tilda met een motiefje. Een paar stukjes hiervan zullen misschien ook wel aan de voorkant gebruikt worden.

This is a 16-block mystery quilt designed by Leanne Beasley, designer of among others Leanne's House, another stitchery project I'm working on.

Several blocks are published in each issue of Vignette, a new magazine which is published by Leanne.



I started block 1 a few days back and it is so much fun to work on.
