The Deventer Quilt Show

Yesterday Ineke and I visited the quilt show in Deventer. The Dutch Quilt Quild organizes these shows each year.
The show was held in a beautiful church. Ineke and I crossed the river IJssel by foot ferry which was fun, especially since we had glorious weather.
The theme of the show was "connection".

The first quilt we saw when we entered the church was this beauty.
The title translates as "Bella Bella Tile" and it was made by Truus van Essen-van de Esschert.

This one's title translates as "Antique Roses" and the centre piece is an antique cross stitch sampler.
It was stitched by Marjan v.d. Burgt.

Burgt.

I was really taken by this beautiful quilt, which involves lots of different techniques such as applique and lace making.
It was stitched by Jellie de Lange-Hoekema and its title translates as "Needlecraft techniques of the past and the present".

A detail of an applique flower.

Een detail van een geappliqueerde bloem.

This seascape artquilt was stunning. The lady who made this quilt describes it as "I combined an old quilt top given to me by a friend, neckties from friends and inspiration which I acquired over the past years"
The title translates as "Experiencing the world as a connected game" It was made by Margaretha Kresmer.

A detail of the jellyfish.

Een detailopname van de kwallen.

This quilt called "Mandala" by Els Barel was beautifully made.

"New Orleans Flower" by Stella Thijssen combined a Baltimore centre piece with pieced hexagons and an applique border.

I hope this picture of a white Baltimore quilt is discernable. It was very special because the piecing was done in 3D (see picture below).

The title translates as "Baltimore Beauty in White and it was stitched by Janny Hammink.

And lastly one of my favourites of the show: "A Rose Dream" by Lenie Verburg-van den Brink.
The detail in this quilt is fabulous (see detail photo below).

I hope you enjoyed looking at these beautiful quilts.

Red Home & Fernhill

I made quite a bit of progress on Red Home by Natalie Bird. The birdhouse now has its surrounding blocks which form the inner border of this quilt.

The Flower Basket is also done.
There is another flower basket with a heart-shaped flower.

And this is House on the Hill, also completed.

Jug of Flowers is still in progress. I still need to do three of those tiny leaves.

The two hearts are ready to go. They still need their red and cream squares.

In the mean time I also completed the stitchery for Fernhill part five. When I took the picture, I realised I had forgotten to stitch the Dolphin Blue French knots. Each of these parts is dotted with them.

I love stitching the tiny bees.

Part 6 of Fernhill arrived last week and it is a very surprising part, with lots of work that needs doing.
I won't post a picture of it, so as not to spoil the surprise for other Fernhill stitchers.

Thank you for your lovely comments and welcome to my new followers.

Back soon with more Fernhill and Red Home.
