No Progress Today

I didn't make very much progress on anything today, except preparing the templates for the Mariner's Compass for Love Entwined.

It might have something to do with a certain British Shorthair aptly named after a naughty little boy in a children's book: Kruimeltje (small crumb). Kruimel really is very naughty and could be the main character in a book for boys any time.

Love Entwined

copyright Esther Aliu

There has been a lot of fabric buying and showing going on recently, more than actually making and finishing anything.
I was trying to finish my last block for Quilt Me Club 2013, when part 1 of Love Entwined, the new Block of the Month by Esther Aliu was launched early. Above you can see the centre piece of this amazing quilt, not part 1 only!

With prints still damp from the printer, I headed straight for my favourite quiltshop Samsara Quilting in Lisse, where I spent a lovely few hours with Jacqueline, Samsara's owner, choosing my main fabrics for Love Entwined.

This is what we came up with (the fabrics appear a lot brighter than in real life):

A close-up of my background fabric. The pattern is a lot smaller in real life.

Een dichtbijopname van mijn achtergrondstof. Het patroon is in het echt veel kleiner.

My pinks and greens, still to be added to from my stash, or another visit to Samsara (probably both!)
There are browns to add and a few lilacs/purples.

Of course Kruimel - my Quilt Master - had to approve of all the fabrics. Not sure he has, judging by his face ;o)

Natuurlijk moest Kruimel - mijn Quiltmeester - alle stofjes goedkeuren.

It looks like I have my work cut out to complete the compass and the circle around it before part 2 is released on the 15th of July. I'm *almost* hoping for the cool weather to continue, but not quite!

Welcome to my new followers, and thank you for all your lovely comments.

QMC 2013 Progress

To see what I have got so far for QMC 2013, I pinned all the completed blocks to an improvised design wall. The only mini-block left to do is the applique of a girl called Florette. As I'm not to keen on her, I have decided to do something else for that mini-block.

This bear's paw pieced block took me forever to complete, for some reason. Now it only needs one more outer border to be attached.

As a belated birthday present from my SIL,  I chose these sweet doves during a visit to the garden centre.
I cannot believe those pansies are still flowering. They were given to me by my MIL before Christmas! I keep dead-heading them and this seems to work well.

In amongst a container of pale pink dasies, this pretty pink daisy grew. I love the combination of the brighter pink and yellows.

The woodland corner in our garden is growing well. This is the latest addition to the foxglove collection.

I'm trying to complete my QMC 2013 'Campagne Française' (French Countryside) top before Esther Aliu releases her newest BOM 'Love Entwined' a reproduction of a 1790 marriage coverlet.

A Stroll Through Our Garden

Sorry, no stitchy pictures today. After watering the garden, the light was beautiful and I played in the garden with my camera.

These pretty little wood anemones are called Anemone Multifida "Annebelle Deep Rose"

Deze mooie kleine bosanemoontjes heten Anemone Multifida "Annebelle Deep Rose"

Water droplets on a hosta leaf.

These pretty pansies have been flowering since before Christmas! I dead-head them every day and they have just kept flowering.

After years of trying to grow plants in a shady place under the trees in our garden that were not happy there, I have now started to create a small woodland area, with foxgloves, anemones, astrantia, aquilegia and ferns.

There will hopefully be more to show you from my woodland garden soon, as I received a delivery of woodland plants straight from the nursery today. It included more woodland anemones, pink ones and white ones, two types of dicentra formosa (bleeding hearts that grow in woodlands), and two types of campanula.

Welcome to my new followers and thank you for your kind comments. I really do appreciate them!

Quilt Me Club 2013 & Mrs Beasley

The applique block for part 4 of Quilt Me Club 2013 by Nataliejo is finished.
Below are a few details of this block.

When issue 10 of Vignette magazine was published last week, I instantly fell in love with "Mrs Beasley's Sampler Quilt".

Thankfully most of the fabrics which I chose came from my stash, to which I added a few during a visit to my favourite quilt shop Samsara Quilting. As usual, Jacqueline managed to find a few FQ's that complemented my fabrics beautifully. I also bought the backing fabric, a pink Tilda with a small motif, which you see in the background on this photo. I might use a few scraps of it for the front too.

Chateau Hexagon Part 1

Part 1 of Chateau Hexagon, the new Button BOM by Lynette Anderson is finished.
It was so much fun to stitch that I cannot wait for part 2 to arrive.
I used a combination of Lynette's fabrics and Japanese fabrics, all from my stash.
The threads are Cosmo Multiwork, my favourite threads for stitcheries, in the recommended colours.

Mother nature has taken her paint brushes out. Our white violets are slowly turning a beautiful shade of pale lilac.

Moeder natuur heeft haar verfkwasten tevoorschijn gehaald. Onze witte bosviooltjes veranderen langzaam van wit in zachtlila.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my previous blog post.

Bedankt voor jullie leuke berichtjes over mijn vorige blogje.

WOT & Quilt Me Club & Château Hexagon

First of all thank you for all your kind comments on the photos of my garden.

Allereerst bedankt voor jullie leuke berichtjes over mijn tuinfoto's.

I promised you that I would be back soon with pictures of my stitching.

First of all: part 4 of Quilt Me Club 2013 by Nataliejo.
This is the pieced block which I finished this week. I'm currently working on the applique block.

Part 1 of Château Hexagon by Lynette Anderson arrived last week.
Hopefully everyone has received their packages now and that I'm not spoiling the surprise.

This morning I prepared the first block, the applique pieces and traced the design onto my background fabric.
The picture is a bit contrasty, but in normal mode the background fabric went a really strange yellow.
I'm planning to use Lynette's fabrics where she used them too, combined with fabrics from my collection of Japanese fabrics.

On Friday I bought this beautiful French quilting book. It has lots of beautiful designs. I could make something from each page.

In my comments my stitching friend Glenda from Australia wrote that in her native New Zealand foxgloves grow everywhere and are considered weeds. Apparently fields full of foxgloves are a tourist attraction. New Zealand is now even higher on the list of countries to visit.

Since I paid the earth for my two beautiful foxgloves, I thought I would share two close-ups which I took yesterday and the day before.

Your comments are very inspiring and always appreciated.

Jullie berichtjes vind ik erg inspirerend. Ze worden altijd op prijs gesteld.

WOT (in the title) means WIPs on Thursdays ;o) I missed Esther's WOW yesterday, but can just about slip under the fence of her deadline. To see what stitchers all over the world are doing, please visit Esther Aliu's blog.
