QuiltAid Progress

Since my last blog post, I made a bit of progress on the QuiltAid2011 project.

This is "A Flower for Thee" by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse. It still needs one hexagon flower attaching.

Dit is "A Flower for Thee" van Natalie bird van The Birdhouse. Er moet nog één hexagonbloem worden geappliqueerd.

Lynette Anderson's contribution, "Pixie Quilt Shoppie" is also almost done. I only need to 'hang' the mini-quilt on the flagpole. I will probably leave out the pixies, but might change my mind later when I have all the blocks together.

This is "Bunny Wonderings" by Catherine Baynes. A very cute block.

Dit is "Bunny Wonderings" van Catherine Baynes. Een erg lief blok.

And now I am working on Little Green Frog by Liz Stanway, a combination of fusible applique with blanket stitches and needleturn applique. And lots and lots of stitchery.

No blog post would be complete without a picture of one of our sweeties. Here is Kruimel being his very cute self.

Hier is Kruimel, lief zoals altijd.

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

Bedankt voor jullie leuke berichtjes.

The Adventures of Harrington and Hannah Part 2

The second block of The Adventures of Harrington and Hannah by The Raspberry Rabbits was published on Wednesday. It is so cute that I just couldn't resist working on it straightaway.

Each block has the two bunnies Harrington and Hannah in the same pose.

If you like this BOM, you can join in for free at The Raspberry Rabbits.

I'm also working on Lynette Anderson's contribution to QuiltAid2011. I love her design. It it is so much fun to work on.

And in the mean time I'm trying to choose my background fabrics for the new Mystery BOM by Esther Aliu which is starting on February 29th. Choosing is quite difficult, because being a mystery, we do not know what she has in stall for us. I spent quite a lot of time at Samsara Quilting yesterday and made my choices! I cannot show them yet, since we do not know any measurements, except that the total quilt will measure 60 inches.

Thank you for your lovely and inspiring comments!

QuiltAid2011, In Full Bloom, and Luna

First of all, major congratulations go out to my parents, who are celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary today.

On Thursday postie brought my finishing kit for the QuiltAid2011 project as well as the long-awaited Presencia threads. Pretty, aren't they?

Of course I had to try them out on the block I had already prepared a while back. This is the block which Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse designed for this charity project.

I also completed the fifth stitchery for In Full Bloom by Lynette Anderson, as well as the patchwork blocks for the second row of this project. I now have the two rows attached and can start the first block of the third row.

It has been a while since I showed you a picture of our little furry girl Luna. She is still very partial to the toy she received when she was very brave at the vet's in November for her check-up and boosters.

Thank you for all your kind and inspiring comments.

Bedankt voor jullie aardige en inspirerende berichtjes.

Sinterklaas & QuiltAid

First of all thank you for your kind wishes for a speedy recovery. They worked, because I'm nearly back to normal. I'm still very tired, but that's probably normal after having been ill for three weeks.

On Saturday we celebrated Sinterklaas, a Dutch custom which resembles Santa Claus giving presents.

I received some lovely goodies. See picture below. Luna is inspecting the bird house which I received.

So far six of the twelve blocks for QuiltAid2011 have arrived and they are all so cute! Not sure where to start once my second Berries & Bluebirds block is done.

The fabric which is used is the new line Ruby by Moda Fabrics and it is ever so pretty.

This one, designed by Lynette Anderson, is very high on my list of favourites to start with.

I will be back tomorrow for WOW: WIPs on Wednesdays, and will show you my progress on my second Berries & Bluebirds block.

WOW: Berries and Bluebirds block 2

For the past week I have been working on my second block of Berries and Bluebirds by Gail Pan. Here is my progress so far, in time for Esther's WOW (WIPs on Wednesdays):

I was supposed to travel to Engeland on Monday, but I've been struggling with a chest infection for three weeks now and I didn't feel well enough to travel. Very disappointing, also for the friends I was supposed to spend some time with.

But it did give me a chance to make some progress on my birdies. Once the second pattern arrived last Monday, I just couldn't stop myself from starting it.

Most of my QuiltAid blocks have been ordered now and will be posted out to me tomorrow. I'm still trying to decide which finishing kit I like best. Each of the stores has designed their own finishing of the 12 blocks designed by Australian designers.

QuiltAid 2011

I would like to draw your attention to QuiltAid 2011. This program runs in Europe, in Australia and in the USA, and is a worldwide project which supports a very special hospital in Ethiopia.
This is particulary close to my heart as I lived in Ethiopia for four years as a child.

If you can, please support this good cause with a block, or two, or twelve! It helps that the twelve designers came up with 12 very cute blocks and that the fabrics which are used, Ruby by Moda, are very cute too.

Watch this space, as soon as my kits start arriving, I'm sure I will not be able to resist starting these very cute blocks, which are a mix of piecing, applique and stitchery.
