My Garden Happy Dance!

After three years, I finally completed the 2010 Button BOM by Lynette Anderson called 'My Garden'.
Only the quilt top is done. It still needs sandwiching and quilting.
I used the fabric line Evening Mist by Moda.Some of the blocks were stitched whilst on holiday in my favourite islands Harris, Skye and Ibiza. That makes this quilt very special to me.

Na drie jaar heb ik eindelijk de Button BOM afgemaakt die Lynette Anderson in 2010 uitbracht. Hij heet 'My Garden'.  Natuurlijk moet hij nog voorzien worden van vulling en een achterkant, en gequilt worden.
Ik heb de stoffenserie 'Evening Mist' van Moda gebruikt. Sommige van de blokken werden gemaakt op mijn lievelingseilanden Harris, Skye en Ibiza, waardoor deze quilt heel speciaal is.

Very conveniently, postie brought part 1 of Saltbox Farm by The Birdhouse just after I had completed My Garden. I like the fabric choices by the shop owner, but have since replaced a few fabrics, as I happened to have some of the fabrics in my stash which the designer used in the orginal quilt.

En de postbode hield er een prima timing op na, want deel 1 van 'Saltbox Farm' van The Birdhouse kwam aan zodra ik My Garden af had. Ik vind de stofkeuzes van de eigenaresse van de winkel prima, maar aangezien ik 'toevallig' ;o) een aantal stoffen in mijn voorraad had die de ontwerpster in de oorspronkelijke quilt heeft gebruikt, heb ik er een paar vervangen.

In the mean time I have also completed the two pieced blocks for QuiltMeClub 2013 by Nataliejo.
That leaves the second applique block to be completed. I'm not too partial to that block, so I intend to change it and use something else. Part 4, which reveals the layout, has since arrived. I can't show it to you, as Natalie requested that we do not show her patterns on our blogs.

In de tussentijd heb ik ook de twee patchworkblokken van Quilt Me Club 2013 van Natliejo af. Rest nog het tweede applique-blok. Ik ben niet zo gek op dat blok, dus ben ik van plan het te vervangen door iets anders. Deel 4, waarin de volledige layout wordt onthuld, is in de tussentijd ook gekomen. Ik kan het jullie niet laten zien, want Natalie heeft gevraagd of we haar patronen niet op ons blog willen zetten.

And talking of My Garden: things are growing well in our garden. We bought these beautiful pansies on Monday. 

The Alchemilla always looks so beautiful after dew or rain have done their magic. 

De vrouwenmantel is altijd zo mooi nadat dauw of regen deze prachtige pareltjes erop hebben getoverd.

My MIL bought these pansies for me just before Christmas, and they are still going strong! 

Deze viooltjes kocht mijn schoonmoeder voor mij vlak voor kerstmis, en ze bloeien nog steeds!

Phebe - Di Ford

Yesterday, my Mum and I visited the quiltshow in Veldhoven.

For me, the most exciting news was that Di Ford would be showing her beautiful quilts. And beautiful they are.

If I could ever choose a favourite, after a lot of debate, it would have to be Phebe. I have had the pattern in my stash for a couple of years now and still haven't started it. Maybe I'm a bit frightened that I will not do it justice. 


Gisteren zijn mijn moeder en ik naar Veldhoven geweest om de quilt expo te bezoeken. 

Voor mij was het meest opwindende nieuws dat Di Ford haar prachtige quilts exposeerde. En prachtig zijn ze. 

Als ik al een favoriete quilt zou kunnen kiezen, zou het - na veel nadenken - Phebe zijn. Ik heb het patroon al een paar jaar in mijn bezit en ben nog steeds niet begonnen. Misschien ben ik wel een beetje bang dat ik haar geen recht zal doen.

Another pattern which I have in my stash is Di's Sarah Morell quilt. So beautiful in person, full of detail. And her fabric choices are spot on. 

Een ander patroon dat ik in mijn bezit heb, is Sarah Morell van Di ford. In het echt is hij zo mooi, met prachtige details. En haar stofkeuze is echt perfect.

Di autographed her brand new book for me, and we had a little chat about how she chooses her fabrics. What a lovely and gifted lady she is. She told me she will probably be back next year, so if you wish to see her quilts....

Di voorzag haar gloednieuwe boek van haar handtekening en we hebben even gepraat over hoe ze haar stoffen kiest. Wat een aardige en talentvolle vrouw. Ze vertelde dat ze was gevraagd om volgend jaar terug te komen, dus als je haar quilts wilt zien....

Birthday & Watercolour

On Friday it was my birthday. I spent the day with my parents, who gave me these pretty violets. 

Vrijdag was het mijn verjaardag. Ik heb de dag doorgebracht bij mijn ouders, die deze schattige bosviooltjes voor me kochten.

My Mum-in-law gave me three of these pretty vases with pink roses. 

Mijn schoonmoeder gaf me drie van deze mooie vaasjes met roze rozen.

And my niece chose these pretty pink tulips for me. You would think I like pink! :o) 

En mijn nichtje zocht deze mooie roze tulpen voor me uit. Je zou bijna denken dat ik van roze hou! :o)

Marcel gave me private painting tuition. I spent all day yesterday painting the above watercolour at my second class of the series.

Van Marcel kreeg ik schilderlessen. Ik heb gisteren de hele dag tijdens de tweede les gewerkt aan de bovenstaande aquarel.

On the stitching front, I am still working on part 3 of QuiltMeClub 2013.

Op het handwerkvlak werk ik nog steeds aan deel 3 van QuiltMeClub 2013.

Quilt Me Club 2013 & Watercolours

As promised, I'm back with two of the watercolours I painted whilst in Scotland. Both were painted from memory. I normally paint from (my own) photographs.

Zoals beloofd laat ik jullie twee aquarellen zien die ik heb geschilderd terwijl ik in Schotland was. Beide werden uit mijn hoofd geschilderd. Normaal schilder ik met behulp van (mijn eigen) foto's.

This little seascape measures about 20 x 29 cm. Marcel liked it so much when I came back home, that it will apparently end up hanging in our living room, together with the above landscape. Yay! I guess I had better get them framed. I will have more painting tuition soon, to keep the mojo going.

Dit kleine 'zeeschapje' meet ongeveer 20 x 29 cm. Marcel vond hem zo mooi toen ik weer thuis kwam, dat hij in onze woonkamer mag hangen, samen met het bovenstaande landschap. Joepie! Ik kan ze dus maar beter laten inlijsten. Binnenkort heb ik weer aquarel-les, om de 'mojo' gaande te houden,

Amazingly, I didn't stitch at all whilst in Scotland. My painting mojo came back big time and I took advantage of it. I did have several stitchy projects in my luggage and they never got unpacked.

After coming home, I completed the second applique block for Quilt Me Club 2013 part 2 by Nataliejo of l'Atelier Perdu. 

Verbazingwekkend genoeg heb ik in Schotland helemaal niet gehandwerkt. Mijn schilder-mojo werd opeens heel actief en daar heb ik gebruik van gemaakt. Ik had een aantal handwerkprojecten bij me, maar die heb ik niet eens uitgepakt. 

Na mijn thuiskomst heb ik het tweede applique-blok voor Quilt Me Club 2013 deel 2 van Nataliejo van l'Atelier Perdu afgemaakt. 

Last week, part 3 arrived and the first block is finished. I still have another applique block and two pieced blocks to work on this month.

Vorige week kwam deel 3 en het eerste blok is af. Ik moet nog een applique-blok maken en twee patchworkblokken.

Back from Scotland

Back from Scotland, after two lovely weeks in the Outer and Inner Hebrides. Time to show you what I was working on before I left.

Terug uit Schotland, na twee heerlijke weken in de Buiten en Binnen Hebriden. Tijd om jullie te laten zien waar ik aan werkte voor ik vertrok.

A few weeks back I started Beaded Dragonfly Tile by Châtelaine, and then ran out of beads to complete the other three dragonflies. They have arrived since then, so I can continue this beautiful small project. 

Een paar weken geleden begon ik aan Beaded Dragonfly Tile van Châtelaine. Ik had niet genoeg kraaltjes om de andere drie libellen van kraaltjes te voorzien. Ze zijn sindsdien aangekomen, dus ik kan weer verder met dit prachtige projectje.

This is 'our' holiday cottage on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. A lovely little house called Number Nine Ardmhor. 

Dit was 'ons' vakantiehuisje op het eiland Barra in de Buiten hebriden. Een schattig klein huisje met de grappige naam Number Nine Ardmhor.

Quilt Me Club 2013

The more observant among you may have already noticed that I have had the Quilt Me Club 2013 thumbnail up for a little while now.
Reading on Nataliejo's blog this morning that she is preparing part 2 of Quilt Me Club 2013, reminded me that I finished my first part last week. The theme of this project is "Campagne Française", which means "French Countryside".

De opmerkzame lezer had vast al gezien dat ik al een tijdje de Quilt Me Club 2013 button op mijn blog heb staan.
Toen ik vanmorgen op Nataliejo's blog las dat ze bezig is met het voorbereiden van deel 2 van Quilt Me Club 2013, herinnerde ik me dat ik vorige week deel 1 afgemaakt heb. Het thema van dit project is "Campagne Française",  wat"Het Franse Platteland" betekent.

Part 1 consists of four pieces mini-blocks which makes up a big block, and an applique block with two geese and a heart.

Deel 1 bestaat uit vier patchworkblokjes die samen een groot blok vormen, en een geappliqueerd blok met twee ganzen en een hart.

I wasn't as brave as some of my fellow-stitchers on this project, and stuck with the colours Natalie recommended. Several of the fabrics are the same ones she used.

I was niet zo dapper als sommigen die ook aan dit project werken, en hield de kleuren aan die Natalie adviseerde. Een paar van de stoffen zijn dezelfde als die zij heeft gebruikt.

Sorry voor de kreukels. Ik strijk het liefst zo min mogelijk mijn blokken. 

A few days back, Kruimel was trying to pretend he wasn't sleeping on my stitching chair.

Kruimel deed van de week net of hij niet op mijn handwerkstoel lag.

For something completely different to do, I started Châtelaines Beaded Dragonfly Tile which was recently published. I had most of the materials in my stash, and Ineke kindly shared a skein of silk floss with me so I could start. Have a look on her blog (click) how gorgeous it is.

Om even iets heel anders te doen, ben ik begonnen aan Beaded Dragonfly Tile van Châtelaine, die kort geleden is uitgekomen. Ik had de meeste materialen op voorraad en Ineke was zo lief een streng borduurzijde met me te delen zodat ik kon beginnen. Kijk maar op haar blog hoe mooi hij is.
