My Dear Jane & Water Colour Paintings of Harris & Skye

I arrived safely back home yesterday afternoon, after two lovely weeks in Scotland.
We spent a week on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, in this lovely holiday cottage:

The other week we spent on Skye, where my friend lives.

Exciting news, I started my own Dear Jane project. Every self-respecting quilter appears to have done one ;o)) so now I'm starting mine. I have three little blocks finished:

Spannend nieuws!

The colours I chose are burgundy and dusky pinks, with different cream backgrounds. I'm not stitching them in any particular order. This is A7, part of the burgundy ones.

A8 which will be next door to it, a burgundy and cream one.

B3, one on the second row, in dusky pink and cream.

I also painted (at last!) and got three watercolours done whilst I was away. They might still need a bit of tweaking with pastels, but I will have a think before I do that. It was almost a year since I had last painted:

And I just had to share this picture with you, of a sunset on our favourite beach on the Isle of Harris: Luskentyre. Such mind-blowing beauty. I just admired and absorbed.

I think I will wait for my next painting tuition to attempt to paint this in watercolour.

Back soon with my second new quilting project.

Binnenkort laat ik jullie mijn tweede nieuwe quiltproject zien.

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

Bedankt voor jullie leuke berichtjes.

Such a quant wee cottage I did not think there were any White houses left like this now. One of my girlfriends in NZ family came from Lewis and they lived in a WHITE house as they were called back then nearly 100 years ago because not every one could afford to white wash their homes!!!!. do you know how old this wee cottage is Anne Marieke????. Love how you took your first photo's of your Dear Jane blocks nestled on the rocks of Skye or Harris . Looking forward to seeing these little gems grow quickly knowing you. Your painting skills leave one spell bound. Looking fore ward to seeing you capture that amazing sunset in a watercolour. Cheers Glenda
